What is the dress code policy for attending classes at our dance studio?

  • A dress code ensures that a teacher will be able to see a dancer’s alignment and positioning. The teacher needs to be able to see a dancer's mistakes. Baggy clothing can mask bad habits, making corrections impossible. Most dance studios require students to wear a leotard and tights for ballet. A dress code will also teach students discipline, helping with overall focus and energy. By "dressing the part," dancers feel like dancers. Attitudes believes since dance is an art form students may choose colors other than just black leotards to show their expression. Leotards and tights are preferred if your child is taking a ballet class; skirts, skorts, booty shorts or tutus are permitted. Jazz Pants, booty shorts or skirts for Jazz & Tap are permitted for other forms of dance. Put your name in all dance shoes and dancewear in case of loss. If you change shoes during class for a different subject, a dance bag is strongly recommended to avoid “shoe mix-ups. ”PLEASE NOTE: JEANS, JEAN SHORTS, PANTS, DRESSES OR OTHER TYPES OF “SCHOOL ATTIRE” ARE NOT ALLOWED. If you are unable to change before coming to class, bring class clothes with you to change in the studio bathroom.
